Description

Why can't I get their darned wings right! I'm so close to finishing. Curse you hands for not being able to draw right! Ah, what am I doing? I just scolded my hands for goodness sakes! He sighed and rested his head against the tree that was shading him from the sun. I just have to get this finished no doubt about it. Maybe then I’ll be able to get a peaceful night’s sleep. He picked up his pencil and began sketching again. He had been there since five a.m. Unable to sleep, he gave up and came here to his favorite spot. He had discovered it last summer, and whenever he needed to think, this is where he always came. It was a few blocks from his home, past his school and through the little forest next to the park. If you went the right direction, you would find a small clearing at the edge of a hill. It was the perfect spot for watching the sunrise and wishing…

He laughed at himself. That was something he had thought about a lot lately, wishing. You could wish on an eyelash, a leaf, a star, but did it ever come true? Part of him wanted to say no, but another part said yes. Part of him wanted to think that his childhood wasn’t that bad. That it was somehow magical…

He shook his head again and pulled himself back to his drawing. Don’t even think about getting distracted again, he scolded himself. You need to finish this before Mom and Dad realize you’re gone. He shuddered slightly at the thought of his parents discovering him gone, especially on today of all days. After a few more minutes of drawing, he leaned back to examine his work.

Something’s missing, but what? He thought. Oh, I know, he snapped his fingers and put the finishing touch on his sketch. Finally, it’s done. He took a deep breath and stared intently at the smiling faces of his drawings.

Their wings, their crowns, their smiles… they seem so familiar… but who are they? His page was suddenly filled with a soft glow, almost as if wanted to give an answer. He looked up to see the tip of the sun peeking over the horizon. He smiled slightly to himself.

It’s officially a new day, so why doesn’t it feel any different from yesterday. Easy, because it hard to find the magic in each new day when you’ve felt it’s already gone. Another year older, another memory gone. He stood up and stretched, and then gave his picture one last, longing gaze, then sat it up against the tree and walked away.

Unbeknownst to him, three pairs of sad eyes watched him go.

“I hate this, I really do,” sighed the squirrel as he watched the sad boy go.

“I know, honey, I do to. But this is the way it has to be. This is the way it’s always been. At least we were able to give him eight years of happiness.”

“Still, it’s not fair. Maybe we could… just for a moment…”

“No Cosmo! We’d be breaking the rules and we’d get our wands taken away! I would love to, but we can’t. You remember what Jorgen said. If we were to give any hint to him that we were here or anywhere around him, we’ll be banished from Fairly World forever.”

The green fairly sighed and looked after the boy, whom by now was long gone.

“Besides, it’s been a year. I’m sure he’s made himself a new life now. Who would we be if we barged in on it and-”

“Timmy?”

“Yes, sweetie, that was Timmy, but… Poof wait!” Before she could do anything Poof had jumped down from their branch and ran over to where Timmy had been. His startled parents ran after him, afraid he might be seen, but they stopped dead when they saw the drawing.

“Well what do you know,” whispered Cosmo.

“I- I don’t believe it. He shouldn’t be able to remember us!” cried Wanda.

“He shouldn’t, but he does. He might not realize it, but he does. Yippee!” yelled Cosmo as he started doing a little victory dance.

Wanda wiped a tear from her eye and smiled. “Come on you guys, I think it’s time to get home and find a frame for this.”

Cosmo nodded as grabbed Poof, both of them grinning from ear to ear as Wanda picked up the drawing and raised her wand. In the blink of an eye they were gone. He was grinning too, bigger than he had in the past year, as he stepped out from his hiding place within the trees. He wiped the tears from his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt and sighed. “I knew it,” he said, and he walked away, wishing that someday they would meet again. And that wish, he knew, was going to come true. He might not realize it when it happens, but it would, and he couldn’t wait.

As i was sketching this, i started to think about the episode 'Channel Chasers' and how it said that when Timmy turns 18 he'll forget Cosmo and Wanda. I really hate that. i dont think he'll ever truely forget them. so thatz when i typed this up. itz Timmy's 19th birthday and he's been having dreamz of his one time Fairies, so he drew them up and left it for them to find so he could see if they really were real.
