Literature Text

As I sit upon the chair, in my room with deep despair
Shadows dance upon the wall, in the end light will fall
I sit and sigh with a heavy heart, praying that the clouds will part
And let the moonlight shine upon my deep and darkened face.

When I was cut off from my light, I searched and scoured through the night
And suddenly out of the dark, there came a soft and still remark
Mere whispers through the trees, softly sighing “come to me”
And so I start to follow, as the wind urged me on.

While I followed as if in a trance, the leaves around me start to dance
Slowly, softly filled with grace, they threw up their heads and gave a chase
On this twisting turning path, I felt the silence of someone’s wrath
Yet I continue to follow, as the wind urged me on.

Though that someone, still and near, forever feeding upon my fear
Continued to follow through this night, a victim of a loveless fight
And so it feeds but forever craves, then sits upon its victim’s grave
To gaze up at the moon, as she weeps with a heavy heart.

As I stumble, cold and blind, through this tragic restless time
The victim of my monsters’ past, taking me down then at last
He who forever follows in vain, to lead me down in childish feign
And the wind cries out “no” as I begin to descend his way.

When I reached his bottomless lair, I bowed my head in silent prayer
And began to move deeper into his guise, until I met the reds of his eyes
He stood do still in an attempt to prove, that I dared not make a move
Or take my eyes off him, as the wind stood silent and still.

On this journey, thick and thin, of all the places I’ve ever been
I never imagined I could be here, staring down my greatest fear
He suddenly moved with such a grace, as I opened my hands, a silent embrace
And listened for the winds ghostly cheer, but it said nothing still.

Suddenly I could remember, as if it were a dying ember
The memory so faded and worn, the attempt to relive it seemed forlorn
So I concentrated, for all that its worth, to shed some light and a bit of mirth
On this twisted, uncaring place I had once called home.

This hellish place with heat so great, it seemed to help decide my fate
And from my master’s demonic hand, I could see what he had planned
In only brute force he had a hold over me, but he could sense my longing to be free
And so his grip tightened around my withered and fragile heart.

He puts me down in his sea of black, his simple yet cruel attack
That cuts me from the winds voice, so I no longer have a choice
Banging, pleading against the wall, I continue to create a brawl
But the only thing that greets me is the silence of his wake.

But I will not admit defeat, for I refuse to give him his replete
So I step up and reach out a hand, hoping someone will take stand
To help me destroy the one I feared, that one eyed monster that called me weird
And lift me from this horrible place that I no longer call home.

And that was that, believe it or not, it all began with that one thought
That unsuspected sting of doubt, that stayed with me like a drought
But finally I’m emerging from the dark, and beginning the first leg of my embark
And so I sat quietly for a moment, thinking of what had taken place.

“And now” I thought, “It’s finally over”, that unforgiving pit of a rover
And I smiled in content, as the wind cheered me on.
